A Safe Place to Live

Eligible applicants must be age 62 or older. If under age 62, applicants must be either handicapped or disabled. There are income limits, and applicants must undergo screening which includes verification of credit reports, criminal backgrounds, and landlord references. The Billie Brown Building is a security building. Key fobs (which cannot be duplicated) unlock the outside doors. Visitors are admitted by an Enter Phone system in the outer lobby. Tenants must admit their own visitors. There are security cameras throughout the building and tenants can view the front lobby camera on their TV set.

Well-Maintained Complex

All utilities are included in your rent, and there is also a reduced rate for television cable. There is a public room available for your use, as well as on-site laundry rooms for your convenience.

Worth the Wait

There is a waiting list, with an approximate waiting time of 3–4 years for elderly persons with no low income preference. The building has an Elderly Preference (age 62 and older) with this age group going ahead of younger applicants on the list.

Income-Based Rent

Rent is based on 30% of your gross annual income, with deductions available for medical expenses, so everyone’s rent is different. A security deposit equal to one month’s rent is due at move in. This deposit is refunded less any damages to the unit within 30 days of vacancy.
